Recovering a Lost BirdDog Device on your Network

Recovering a Lost BirdDog Device on your Network

First Steps

If any of the following things are true, we recommend opening a ticket with BirdDog Support here instead of attempting any recovery attempts:

  • Your device is not receiving power with known, good cable connections

  • The NIC lights on the RJ45 port are not blinking orange and green
Please note: the NIC lights on the P400 and P4K models are not currently active.

  • The screen on the device is completely blank

Please note: this is in reference to screens built into the physical device (i.e. P110/P120, 4K Family, etc)

Recovery Methods

These steps are for recovering devices whose WebUI cannot be found. Some recovery methods only work with certain products which have been categorized below. If you need help identifying your product please refer to our website here. If these steps do not help we recommend opening a ticket with BirdDog Support here.

P-Series/A-Series Cameras; Flex/Mini converters
  • First, we recommend attempting IPv6 recovery. You can find an article outlining how to do this here.
Your network must be IPv6 compatible. You can confirm this using this website.

  • Our Neuralyzer program can sometimes help and is outlined in a short video here.

PTZ Keyboard

  • Double check the IP Address of the Keyboard by checking its LCD menu using these prompts:

    • Setup Button > Network Configuration

  • Some Keyboards have a label on the underside of the unit. If yours does, try an IPv6 Recovery outlined here, using the MAC address listed on the aforementioned label.

  • Run a factory reset on the unit. You can find steps to do so here.

Maki and X-Series Cameras

  • Troubleshooting steps found here.
