Best Practice Iris Profiles for BirdDog X Series Cameras
Best Practice Iris Profiles for BirdDog X Series Cameras
This article details the recommended video configuration profiles and settings for using a supported BirdDog X series camera with Iris. All bitrates are expressed in Mbps (Megabits per second).
Iris Video Profile Settings
Iris defines three standard video profiles. The bitrates below represent the maximum allowed for each profile.
| Profile | Resolution | Bitrate (Mbps) | Frame Rate (FPS) | Notes |
| High | 1080p | 4.5 Mbps | 30 | Maximum allowed configuration before a system alert is issued. |
| Medium | 1080p | 3.5 Mbps | 30 | Default profile. |
| Low | 720p | 2.5 Mbps | 30 | Activated when the camera exceeds allowed resource usage and the user is notified. |
Note: The Medium (3.5 Mbps) profile is used by default. The camera is limited to the High (4.5 Mbps) profile as the maximum configuration.
BirdDog Recommended Camera Configuration
The BirdDog recommended setup focuses on maximizing performance and minimizing latency. These key settings can be configured in the AV Setup section of the cameras BirdUI:
General Video Settings
| Parameter | Recommended Value | Notes |
| Video Format | 1080p30 |
|
| Video Compression | H264 | This compression format is a mandatory requirement. |
Streaming and Bitrate Settings
| Parameter | Recommended Value |
| Bitrate Control | CONSTANT |
| Mode | LOW |
| GOP Size | 60 |
| Bitrate | 3 Mbps |
RTSP Protocol Settings
RTSP is currently the supported format for video preview with Iris via the direct connection from the camera's BirdUI. Using other video protocols via the Secondary Encoder will result in a lack of video connection within Iris.
| Parameter | Recommended Value |
| protocol | RTSP |
| port | 554 |
| stream_name | live/av0 |
| authentication | disable |
