KBD Firmware Update Instructions

What you will need

1 x BirdDog KBD firmware update .rom file

1 x BirdDog KBD

Procedure

Firmware Update 6.1.562:


This update is a single-step process performed from the BirdUI.

Before updating to firmware version 6.1.562, confirm that the KBD is currently running at least version 6.1.557. If you are unsure what firmware version you are on, our support team can assist you at help@birddog.tv.

To verify this:

  1. Log in to the KBD BirdUI at its assigned IP address. The default password is ‘birddog’.
  1. Navigate to the [System] tab on the left side of the page.
  1. In the [Device Info and Upgrade] section, confirm that the firmware version is listed as BD_KBD_FW6.1.557, BD_KBD_FW6.1.558or BD_KBD_FW6.1.559.

If the firmware version is not 6.1.557 or later do not proceed with this update. (See instructions for updating to 6.1.557 directly after this section and the firmware file for 6.1.557 can be found the the Step 1 folder of the firmware download).

Once confirmed, proceed with the update:

  1. Download the firmware file for version 6.1.562from the BirdDog website and unzip the downloaded file.
    1. The firmware file for version 6.1.562 can be located in the Step 2 folder.
  1. In the [System] tab of the BirdUI, locate the [Firmware Upgrade] field.
  1. Click [Browse Files].
  1. Select the unzipped firmware file and click [Open]. The file name will display in red text.
  2. A pop-up countdown from 120 seconds will appear. The KBD will Factory Reset automatically once the countdown completes.
  3. Allow 2–3 minutes for the KBD to fully reboot after the update.
  4. After the KBD reboots after the update the BirdUI password will be reset to default 'birddog' and a prompt will appear to change the password before continuing. 
  5. Once the KBD reboots the update is complete, and you can verify the firmware version in the [System] tab of the BirdUI listed as BD_KBD_FW6.1.562

Firmware Update 6.1.557:

This update is a single-step process performed from the BirdUI.
  1. Download the firmware file from the BirdDog website and unzip the downloaded file.
  2. Log in to the KBD BirdUI at its assigned IP Address. The default password is ‘birddog’.
  3. Navigate to the [System] tab located on the left hand side of the page.
  4. In the [Device Info and Upgrade] section location the [Firmware Upgrade] field. 
  5. Click [Browse Files].
  6. Navigate to and select the firmware file that was downloaded and unzipped. 
  7. Once the file is selected and [Open] is selected the file will show in the WebUI with red text.
  8. A pop up will appear in the BirdDog counting down from 60, and the KBD will reboot on its own. It may take 2-3 minutes for the KBD to fully reboot after update is initiated. 
  9. To complete the update to firmware 6.1.557 a factory reset is required. This process will erase all added devices, and will reset network information unless the "Keep Network Configuration" box is check before selecting the [RESET] button in [Reset System Default] section of the [System] tab in the KBD BirdUI to initiate the factory reset. 
  10. After the KBD reboots after the factory reset the BirdUI password will be reset to default 'birddog' and a prompt will appear to change the password before continuing. 
  11. Once the KBD reboots the update is complete, and you can verify the firmware version in the [System] tab of the BirdUI listed as BD_KBD_FW6.1.557
