My Encoder Won’t Encode My Apple Product

Apple, HDCP, & BirdDog Encoders

Apple products automatically implement something called HDCP into their output signals (for more information about HDCP, please refer to the following article: What is HDCP?). HDCP is not NDI compliant, so signals will experience interruptions and complications as a result.

This is not a BirdDog limitation, as we do not develop the NDI protocol. This is a limitation of NDI itself, and any questions around HDCP and NDI should directed toward the developer, who can be reached at the following link: https://www.vizrt.com/contact/

While there are some ways you can eliminate the HDCP from the signal itself, BirdDog cannot assist in this endeavor, due to the terms and conditions of using an Apple computer. While there may be some installations where an output from an Apple machine can be encoded by a BirdDog convertor, we do not have the ability to provide insight regarding why this happens or how to make it work.
