PTZ Keyboard factory reset procedure

PTZ Keyboard factory reset procedure

Overview
This procedure can assist with the following unwanted behaviors commonly reported with the BirdDog PTZ Keyboard:

  1. Physical buttons are slow to respond/completely unresponsive
  2. Cameras cannot be found on the network
  3. WebUI is slow to respond/completely unresponsive
Please note: there is a factory reset option found within the LCD Menu of the Keyboard. That process is unlikely to resolve these issues. We recommend the process outlined below be used instead.

PTZ Keyboard Factory Reset Procedure
You will need a paperclip or something similar to perform this procedure. To locate a suitable replacement for a paperclip, locate the small hole placed next to the silver power button on the rear panel. You will need something small enough to press a button recessed in the back of that hole.
  1. Press the silver power button the rear panel of the keyboard to turn the unit off
  2. Prepare to insert the paperclip into the small hole located next to the silver power button, but do not insert it yet
  3. Power the unit back on using the silver power button
  4. The screen will turn on and show case. Once you see any text appear, insert the paperclip into the small hole until you feel a button click. Hold the button in for 10 seconds.
  5. You will know the process has worked when the screen says "FACTORY RESET". You may release the button once this text appears.
    1. If this text does not appear, wait for the unit to finish booting and try again at step 1
    2. The screen will say "FACTORY RESET". Release as soon as you see this.
  6. The unit should reboot and then display its IP Address on the screen.
    1. If the unit device shows its fallback IP of 192.168.0.100, you can change it one of two ways:
      1. For networks using DHCP: Press the Setup button enter "0000" for the password. Go to Network Configuration section and change it from Static to DHCP using the Speed knob.
        1. Reboot the device and it will acquire its DHC
      2. For networks using Static: Navigate to the unit's WebUI. Go to the System tab and change its Static IP Address.
Your Keyboard should now function as expected.
