Studio-NDI · Factory Image Process (REV4)
The following is the complete factory re-image process. This process should fix:
- Studio devices that are "Stuck on Startup"
- Startup and get stuck on the "IP scroll" during bootup
- WebUI menu screens are corrupt and not displaying correctly.
Please read and follow the instructions carefully. Failure to do so may cause the device to become unrecoverable. This process is ONLY for BirdDog Studio-NDI REV4 Devices. The hardware REV is shown on the sticker on the side of the unit. This process must NOT be used for other REV devices
Items Needed Before you begin Factory Reset Process
- USB Drive with LED indicator (1 GB or larger)
- Download: Rufus 3.8
- Download Studio Image: bdstum01r4mini29oct19.img
- HDMI Cable
- SDI Cable
Factory Reset Steps
- Download All Files In Links (above)
- Open Rufus 3.8
- Insert USB Drive into computer
- Select the USB drive in Rufus on the "DEVICE" menu
- Click "SELECT" next to Boot Selection and select "bdstum01r4mini29oct19.img"
- Hit Start and being the image copy
- Once the green status bar is 100%, remove USB from the computer
- Insert USB Drive into the non-powered, malfunctioning Studio unit
- Plug in an SDI cable to both ports (making a loop - testing send and receive)
- Plug in an HDMI cable into both ports (making a loop - testing send and receive)
- Now hold the reset button when plugging in power and hold for 6 seconds
- USB indicator should start flashing steadily
- Release the reset button and set Studio aside
- Firmware Re-write will take 10-15 minutes
- Once the firmware is complete, the screen will restart
- Wait until the screen turns Green (If the Screen Turns Red, the Firmware was not correctly written or the HDMI or SDI cables are bad - try different cables before starting over)
- Unplug Studio from Power
- Unplug HDMI Cable Loop
- Unplug SDI Cable Loop
- Unplug USB Drive
- Plug Studio into Network (DC Power is no POE present)
- Update the Firmware on the WebUI to the latest version: http://www.bird-dog.tv/features/firmware-updates/
The studio is now reset to factory defaults, (DHCP, failback address 192.168.100.100)
