BirdDog MAKI Ultra Firmware Release Notes

Firmware 6.1.020

Improvements & New Features:
  • Factory Reset Shortcut: Holding the AF & MENU buttons 10 seconds now initiates a factory reset, similar to the Reset System Default option in BirdUI and OSD. The reset begins upon button release.
  • NDI Library updated to 6.1.
  • Bitrate Control Enhancements:
    • Switching from Constant to Variable mode now sets the Mode to CUSTOM.
    • The Bitrate slider is hidden when Variable mode is selected.
  • Updated Streaming Protocol Label: The Primary Encoder Settings now display "NDI|HX & UVC," reflecting that the MAKI Ultra always outputs NDI and UVC.
  • Audio Input Label Change: The Mic In button is now labeled Internal Mic (functionality remains unchanged).
  • NDI|HX3 Presets: Added NDI|HX3 presets to Primary Encode Settings in the AV Setup tab.
  • Live Video Preview: Added a live video preview in the CamControl panel.
  • BirdUI Updates:
    • Updated product image for MAKI Ultra 20x.
    • Refreshed background images for Light and Dark mode.
    • Password change workflow now aligns with other BirdDog products.
This release includes the following fixes:
  • Anti-Flicker Setting: Now correctly defaults to Default instead of 50Hz.

  • DHCP Hostname Issue: The MAKI Ultra now responds with its hostname in DHCP request packets (option 12).
  • SDI Output Fix: Resolved issues with 1080p25 and 1080p50 not outputting via SDI.
  • Tally Light Toggle: Now correctly turns on when toggled from off to on in BirdUI.
  • Bitrate Ceiling Adjustment: Increased max Bitrate from 60Mbps to 110Mbps.
  • Device Restart Button: Now functions correctly on the BirdUI Dashboard.
  • Audio Fixes:
    • Audio In Gain setting no longer reverts to default (50) after a reboot.
    • Toggling Audio Input options now properly switches the active audio signal.
    • NDI Audio Mute now correctly mutes audio.
  • GOP & Bitrate Profiles: Updated Low, Medium, and High Mode profiles in Primary Encode Settings.
Known Issues:
  1. Camera Preset options currently do not change saved image settings, although the values update in BirdUI.
  2. Some users experience audio distortion when Line In audio is used. We are aware of this issue and are working on a resolution in an upcoming update.
